TH12 Troop Upgrade Order

TH12 has a lot of fun troops that you can try in different attack strategies but there are certain troops that have higher priority points than others. By upgrading the troops with higher priority first, you can perform better in wars as a new Town Hall 12 without affecting your clan’s performance.

We will be showing you the right way of upgrading your troops at Town Hall 12. The priority points of certain troops might change because of future buffs and nerfs so this article may keep changing its priority list based on game updates.

It is important to upgrade Siege Machines at the end of everything because they are just a waste of time and resources if you have a generous clan that donates Siege Machines.

Barbarians

You will need a lot of resources to upgrade your heroes and troops at a time. This upgrade will improve the Super Version of your Barbarians making them stronger and better for enemy bases.

Super Barbarians are best troop for resource farming because they can easily one star any dead or semi-dead base. Super Barbarians are also very good for maintaining your trophies at desired trophy range.

Barbarian to level 9 upgrade cost: 5,600,000 Elixirs

Dragon

Dragon is an extremely important troop at Town Hall 12. Dragon attacks are currently dominating Town Hall 12 bases in wars. Air attacks are key to defeating other Town Hall 12 and that’s where you should start upgrading your troops. This upgrade will give a good buff of +40 DPS and +500 hitpoints to your Dragons.

This upgrade also gives you access to Super Dragons which are effective troops for attacking other Town Hall 12 bases.

Balloons

Balloons can help with most air attack strategies. They can be used to train air traps before larger troops like Dragons are deployed. They can also be used to clear anti-healer air traps that are usually placed closer to the edges of the base layout. Balloons are a necessary and high-priority upgrade at Town Hall 12.

This upgrade gives you access to the super version of Balloons called Rocket Balloons. Rocket Balloons have a faster speed when spawned but they get back to normal speed after a few seconds.

Electro Dragon

Another popular troop around Town Hall 12 players. Electro Dragon is widely used in clan wars at Town Hall 12. They can be paired up with regular Dragons to get better results. Electro Dragon deals a chain attack that is fairly potent.

Freeze Spell

Freeze Spell can be maxed out at Town Hall 12. Freeze Spell can be used with any troop combination making it a high-priority spell. Freeze Spell is an important upgrade that should not be left untouched.

Lightning Spell

Lightning Spell gets a huge jump in our priority list because of its uses at Town Hall 12. We had Lightning Spell included in the last upgrades that Town Hall 11 players should do but at Town Hall 12 things are different.

This spell is now used a lot by Town Hall 12 players to take out Air Sweepers and Air Defenses before initiating the attack. Lightning Spell will help you perform better with your aerial attacks.

Ice Golem

Ice Golem is another popular troop used by most Town Hall 12 players. Ice Golem can provide assistance to your Queen Charge attacks by slowing down any heroes and defenses that try to attack your Archer Queen. Ice Golem triggers a freeze spell effect on its death which has multiple strategic uses.

Headhunter

Headhunter gets unlocked at Town Hall 12 adding good value to your troop collection. Headhunter is mostly used to wipe out Clan Castle troops and heroes because the attacks from Headhunter create a Poison Spell effect on its target.

Hog Rider

Hog Riders work really well when combined with Miners. Hybrid attack strategy; that uses Miner and Hog Riders as the main part of the attack can be used to annihilate most of the Town Hall 12 base designs. Hog Rider gets two new level upgrades at Town Hall 12.

Miner

Hog Riders won’t be of much use without a well-upgrade Miner. Miner is a useful troop that digs tunnels bypassing walls and resetting attack of the enemy building that is locked on them.

Bat Spell

Bat Spell gets a major buff at Town Hall 12 increasing the total bats spawned by Bat Spell to 21. Bats are good for taking out defenses if Wizard Towers in the base are wiped out. Bats can deal a lot of damage and they don’t trigger traps.

Lava Hound

Lava Hound is still useful at Town Hall 12. The good old LavaLoon attack never gets old. Take your Lava Hound to next level to get launch a stronger LavaLoon attack. This upgrade will also give you access to the super version of Lava Hound which is called Ice Hound. Ice Hounds can create a similar effect to Ice Golem.

Poison Spell

Poison Spell gets a good buff at Town Hall 12 when it goes to level 6 increasing the max damage to 260 while also improving the speed and attack decrease effect.

Invisibility Spell

Invisibility Spell is widely used in most of the attack strategies at every Town Hall level it is available on. An Invisibility Spell can be used to fix the path of the troops or to protect them when a high-damage building is attacking them.

Baby Dragon

Baby Dragon is a good clean-up and funnel troop. Baby Dragons can help in making way for Queen Charge. They can also trigger any air traps laid around the edges of the base. This upgrade gives you access to Inferno Dragon which can unlock your access to whole new attack strategies.

Rage Spell

Rage Spell is still a popular spell that can be used in multiple scenarios. Mostly Rage Spell is used to take out the Town Hall with a bunch of Balloons or it can be used to rage ground troops that are inside the core of the base. Rage Spell can be maxed out at Town Hall 12.

Witch

Witch can be upgraded to level 5 giving you access to Super Witch. Super Witch is a more powerful version of the regular Witch that is a good value addition to your troop list. Super Witch Smash attack is an effective clan war strategy.

Yeti

Yeti is a valuable ground troop that has a fair amount of health and damage. Yeti can spawn Yetimites over time that deal a good amount of damage. Yetimites are also spawned when a Yeti die.

Yeti to level 2 upgrade time: 7 days, 12 hours

Wall Breaker

You will need a better Wall Breaker to break level 13 walls. Walls get an extra +2000 hitpoints at Town Hall 12 so get your Wall Breaker to the next level so you can deal with those walls.

PEKKA

PEKKA can be upgraded to level 8 at Town Hall 12. The new level gives PEKKA a good buff so that she can deal with stronger Town Hall 12 defenses. PEKKA is still widely used in multiple ground-based attack strategies.

Bowler

Bowler gets a new level at Town Hall 12 giving you access to the Super Bowler. Bowler and Super Bowler both can be combined with other ground troops to annihilate enemy Town Hall 12s.

Wizard

Wizard can now be turned into Super Wizards after you are done upgrading them to level 9. Super Wizards are widely used in Blizzard attacking tactic that is used to take out enemy Town Hall at the start of a battle. 

The reason Wizards are so down on our priority list even though they can are widely used as Super Wizard is that Super Wizards are mostly taken in Clan Castles and used with Siege Machines. You cannot put them in your Clan Castle yourself.

Minion

Minion is a good clean-up troop and their super version is proven to be an effective Clan Castle troop. This upgrade will give you access to Super Minions.

Golem

Golem has two new levels at Town Hall 12. The addition of Ice Golem to the game has put the regular Golem a little out of the picture though you can 3-star any base with any troop combination with a proper plan.

Valkyrie

Valkyrie has a super version too that unlocks when she reaches level 7. Valkyrie can deal damage to multiple buildings at a time.

Archer

Archers has a new level at Town Hall 12. Archer’s super version is used in Super Archer-Bat attack strategy.

Goblin

Regular Goblins are usually used to lure Clan Castle troops but their Super Version has multiple uses. Super Goblins are effective for taking out the Town Halls. Goblin goes to max level at Town Hall 12.

Siege Machines

Upgrade the Siege Machine you like the most so you can stop requesting Siege Machines and starting training them yourself. All of the available Siege Machines can be upgraded to level 3 at Town Hall 12.

Giant

Giant goes to level 9 at Town Hall 12. They now have 1850 hitpoints and 70 damage per second. Giants can be used to tank your other low hitpoint troops.

Skeleton Spell

Skeleton Spell can be used to distract enemy defenses. Skeleton Spell should be upgraded at the last because it is rarely used at Town Hall 12. Skeleton Spell receives two upgrades at Town Hall 12.
