Cannon (Home Village): Upgrade Cost, Time, and Levels

Clash of Clans: Cannon Upgrade Cost and Upgrade Time

The Cannon is the first defensive building that any Clash of Clans player builds. It becomes available at Town Hall 1, and players build their first Cannon during the game’s initial tutorial.

The level-one Cannon starts with a metallic body and a wooden stand. It changes appearance with each level upgrade.

The Cannon has a slow attack rate; however, it inflicts a substantial amount of damage.

Once a Cannon reaches level 7, it can be geared up to a Double Cannon. When geared up, the Cannon gains the ability to fire at its target multiple times.

Cannon’s Statistics

The Cannon functions as a single-target defense building, capable of attacking only one enemy unit at a time.

It has a slightly shorter range compared to the Archer Tower, with the Archer Tower having a range of 10 tiles while the Cannon’s range is limited to 9 tiles.

Unlike the Archer Tower, the Cannon exclusively targets ground-based enemy units and is unable to engage flying units.

The Cannon exhibits a slow attack rate and lacks a preferred target. It will engage any ground troop that enters its range.

However, if a flying unit targets the Cannon, it will remain inactive and won’t be able to retaliate.

At its maximum level, a Cannon can deal 160 damage per second and has a hitpoint pool of 2250. Similar to other defense buildings, the Cannon is unable to defend a base while undergoing an active upgrade.

Vulnerabilities of Cannon

Despite its strength and effectiveness, the Cannon is not without its vulnerabilities. Understanding these weaknesses is crucial for players aiming to develop a well-rounded defense strategy and offense strategy.

Let’s explore some of the vulnerabilities that the Cannon possesses in the game.

Limited Range

One of the primary weaknesses of the Cannon is its relatively shorter range compared to other defensive buildings like the Archer Tower.

With a range of only 9 tiles, the Cannon may struggle to target and engage enemy units approaching from a distance.

This limitation can be exploited by skilled attackers who deploy troops strategically outside the Cannon’s range, rendering it ineffective against those specific units.

Single-Target Focus

Another vulnerability of the Cannon is its single-target focus. While its ability to deal significant damage to a single enemy unit is an advantage, it becomes a weakness when facing hordes of troops.

As the Cannon can only engage one target at a time, large groups of enemy units can overwhelm it, rendering its firepower less effective against the collective assault.

Ground-Only Attacks

The Cannon’s inability to attack flying units is a considerable weakness. Flying troops, such as Dragons or Balloons, can destroy a Cannon without fear of retaliation.

This vulnerability makes it imperative for players to employ other defensive buildings and traps, such as Air Defenses or Seeking Air Mines, to counter airborne threats effectively.
