Balloon: Upgrade Cost, Max Levels and Upgrade Time

Balloon Clash of Clans: Upgrade Cost and Time

Balloons have been a popular ingredient of many attack strategies in Clash of Clans for years, and they continue to dominate the battlefield.

The iconic LavaLoon strategy is built around these floating giants, making them an integral part of a successful LavaLoon attack. Even players at Town Hall 4 can get their hands on this powerful unit, as they’re flown by skilled pilots that used to be Wall Breakers.

While Balloons may not be the fastest units in Clash of Clans, with a movement speed of only 10, they more than make up for it with their destructive power.

These floating behemoths prefer to target defenses, making them a top choice for players looking to cripple their enemy’s defense line.

However, their slow speed means that they are often paired with Rage Spells or Haste Spells to help speed them up and get them to their target faster.

Additionally, their ability to deal splash damage to troops that are closely grouped together means that they can be a nightmare for unprepared defenders.

With a housing space requirement of 5, players need to be strategic about how they use Balloons in their army composition.

How to use Balloons effectively

Since defenses are the primary target of Balloons, it’s important to have a strategy in place to protect them. One popular tactic is to deploy a tanking troop to draw the defenses’ attention away from the Balloons.

Without some sort of distraction, Balloons can be quickly decimated by Air Defenses. That’s why many players pair Balloons with Lava Hounds, which can soak up damage and distract defenses while the Balloons go to work.

Since Air Defenses are the Lava Hound’s preferred target, they can make an effective shield for your Balloons.

Simply send in the Lava Hound first to draw fire, then follow it up with a group of Balloons once the nearby defenses are distracted. With the right timing and coordination, this strategy can be a devastating combination.

Balloons can also be a valuable tool for clearing air traps, making them an essential component of certain attack strategies.

For example, when using a Queen Charge attack, players often deploy a couple of Balloons at the planned deployment area of the Archer Queen.

These Balloons are used to trigger any air traps in the area, clearing the way for the Healer to safely support the Archer Queen. The same principle is also applied to other attack strategies like Mass Dragon or Electro Dragon attacks.

By taking out these traps first, players can ensure that their valuable air troops are not lost to those air traps.

In addition to their traditional uses in attack strategies, Balloons have also found a new role as part of the popular Battle Blimp tactic.

This tactic involves using the Battle Blimp to transport Balloons directly to the enemy’s Town Hall or other important defenses. Once the Balloons are in position, a Rage Spell can be used to help them quickly take out their target.

This can be a highly effective way to quickly deal a devastating blow to your opponent’s defenses, and is especially useful in situations where other attack strategies might struggle to penetrate deep into the enemy’s base.

When it comes to defense, Balloons are often used in combination with other troops for protecting the base.

It is important to note that filling your Clan Castle entirely with Balloons can leave you vulnerable to Poison Spells, which can quickly neutralize them.

To avoid this, it’s better to pair Balloons with other troops, such as Dragons or Lava Hounds. These troops have a good amount of hitpoints and can work together with Balloons to create a more balanced and effective defense combination.
